What were you doing 10 years ago?
This time ten years ago I was approaching my eleventh birthday. I don't remember anything of that year except to say that I was in year six, the Spice Girls were the girl-band of choice (though not mine ... my favourite band was Spiderbait, if memory serves) ... my best friend moved to New Zealand, and life as i knew it was over. Of course, I promptly bounced back.
What were you doing 1 year ago?
Living out of home for the first time. Loving it and hating it, all at the same time - the freedom was nice, poverty was not, and I realized (painfully) that beings friends does not mean you will make good housemates. I was coming close to finishing the end of my degree, and contemplating life post-uni ... I considered "real" employment for a while.
Five snacks you enjoy:
1) Tasty Jacks chips (crisps), original flavour. As L so aptly put it, they're 'like tasty tasty potatoes.'
2) My afternoon snack of choice when ravenous is (when available), shaved honey ham on sliced white bread, buttered - but no other condiments.
3) Prunes. Yes, I know this makes me seem like I am either part of the seniors crowd or needing a little "extra help" ... or both ... but in all honesty, I swear - it's because I really like the way they taste.
4) Cashew nuts.
5) Dried cranberries.
Five songs that you know all the lyrics to:
I feel like a magician pulling a bunny out of a hat right about now ...1) Grace - Jeff Buckley (the album, not the song.)
2) Close to all of Incubus' back catalogue up to but not including A Crow Left of the Murder
3) I am trying to break your heart - Wilco
4) Cannonball days - Ryan Adams
5) I know the words to all the songs in Fiddler on the Roof (Yes, the musical featuring Topol)
Five things you would do if you were a multi-]millionaire:
1) Go everywhere/anywhere I have ever wanted to. For the moment, that would be: Japan, Morocco, Iceland, France, Italy, Thailand, Argentina.2) Buy some property in Perth (something central to live in, plus another commercial space to function as studio space)
3) Set up an artist-run-studio/gallery space, specifically for printmedia. We'd have presses, and acid baths, darkrooms, digital printing labs and lots of table space. And nice white walls for showing things.
4) Buy some investment art. Buy warehouse (fire-proof warehouse) in which to store said art.
5) Quit my job.
Five bad habits:
1) Procrastinating.
2) Being a quitter when things get hard.
3) Avoiding (potentially) awkward social meetings even if it means not saying hello to people I consider friends.
4) Being too blunt. I know sometimes I should really cushion the blow when I'm speaking to relative strangers but I find that hard. Thus, I can forgive you if you don't "get me" or even "like me" straight away.
5) Being competitive. I care that other people are better than me. And I want to beat them. And beat them good.
Five things you like doing:
1) Drink tea whilst reading Vogue.
2) Visiting MAC and spending too much money.
3) Tearing BFK rives paper using a steel ruler.
4) Eating a good meal.
5) Waking up when I know I have absolutely nothing to do.
Five things you would never wear again:
1) Anything pale blue. It just doesn't work.
2) Camouflage pants from the army surplus store. (Ages 13 - 16)
3) Anything plaid
4) Any kind of glitter
5) Anything with my name on it. Except for when I am required by store policy to do so.
Five favorite toys:
1) Pepe the velveteen dog. His tail is sewed on crookedly, and he has orange juice stains.
2) Mobile phone. I don't even wear a watch any more, so it's fairly useful.
3) Heated eyelash curler.
4) Fineline sharpie.
5) Clock that's shaped like a sumo wrestler, that used to belong to my brother-in-law, M.
I love prunes too! But they have to be the pre-pitted ones. I'm too lazy to worry about pits! =P
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah. Sharpies are just so satisfying to use. :) Thanks for playing.
